You cannot access the caves without a guide and you must book before 5pm the previous day.

We recommend Cayo Adventure Tours, Leaving from Rock Farm it’s between $95 to $120US depending on numbers and season.

Their guides are informative and knowledgeable. You can pay cash on the day or credit card by phone the day before. You meet the guide in Teakettle (10 minutes from Rock Farm) and he takes you on from there, or you can arrange to be picked up from Rock Farm. We can take you to the junction for no fee.

This is not an 'easy' trip. You need to be in fairly good physical condition to make the hike and the twists and turns and climbs of the cave system.

What to expect:

You leave from the junction in Teakettle at around 8:30am and you will be brought back to Rock Farm sometime after 2pm.

You need to wear tennis shoes or closed-toe shoes with a back strap. You must have socks as you will be asked to remove your shoes to preserve certain areas of ground, and socks make the going easier on your feet. Cargo pants/shorts or similar are perfect. You can wear long sleeves, but tank tops or short sleeve shirts are fine. Wear a bathing suit underneath and bring a towel and a change of clothes for the ride home—you WILL get wet going to the caves.

Take a portable bug spray or spray up before you leave. There is a 45-minute trek through the jungle in the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve, crossing three streams to get to the entrance.

Your tour guide will supply the necessary equipment to make it through the cave safely. You will be in the cave for almost 3 hours. Take a water bottle with you as well as the change of clothing for the car trip home and a backup pair of shoes. You will be provided with lunch - let them know in advance if you're a vegetarian or have any special dietary requirements.

Note: You cannot take any kind of cameras on the trip.
